About

Feel free to look at my profile on LinkedIn I welcome connection requests but please add a note to explain where we have met!

I am based in the UK in Oxfordshire, in easy reach of most places in the Thames Valley and London.

My Background

A graduate electronic systems engineer I initially worked in the industrial control sector, developing, integrating and maintaining production monitoring systems. I co-founded Oxbridge Information Systems which sold monitoring systems in the UK, Europe and the US. I was part of the team which grew the business from an idea, to a profitable company and attracted significant venture capital investment.

I moved to the telecoms sector in 1996 working for Motorola Networks where I initially managed their support relationships with GSM mobile operators all over the world. I then moved to product management roles, eventually running the product management team for the entire global GSM Infrastructure business. During this time I worked on a vast range of product challenges including:

  • Taking complex innovative radio optimisation products and services from concept through launch to successful lines of business, creating significant new revenue multi million dollar streams
  • Turning around a group of products seen as a weakness and transforming them into a strength, bolstering Motorola’s overall GSM portfolio.
  • Re-focusing the portfolio on the more profitable emerging markets segment, increasing margins by several points, well above forecasts.

During this period Motorola completely re-engineered it’s product lifecycle processes and I was instrumental in designing some of the key product management processes that were subsequently identified as best practices by TL9000 auditors.

After a spell working for Acision (formerly LogicaCMG telecoms products), I decided to work independently, primarily so I could work with smaller companies that could not justify needing my skills full time.

The largest project I have completed in my time as an independent was with Arieso, I started helping them with a number of projects just as they were starting a period of explosive growth, and ended up heading their marketing function and being a key member of the team that lead to a very successful exit

I currently spend more than half of my time working with the TM Forum but I aslo have time to work with a number of smaller clients.
