NFV – passing on the agility

I had the privilege of hosting an NFV Digital Leadership Summit for the TM Forum last week. These summits are always extremely interesting as we get representatives of companies that are normally competitors together in a room to discuss challenges and solutions in using the latest technology in their businesses.

One particular highlight for me was to hear how AT&T are using virtualised infrastructure to improve the services they offer to their enterprise customers. We are used to people aiming for cost savings, or aiming to increase their agility so that they can offer new services or support new business models. The benefits AT&T are offering are rather elegant. As the presenter Andreas Meyer was talking it occurred to me that they are making their business more agile, then passing the benefits down the line by enabling their customers to be more agile. I interviewed him about this during a break.
